MERO 2 is a certified hand control system primarily used in vehicles with an automatic clutch or automatic transmission. For vehicles with a manual transmission, an electronic clutch can be added. MERO 2 is a fully adaptable system that can be tailored to both the type of vehicle and the driver’s disability. Thanks to this flexibility, we are able to manufacture and configure the hand control system precisely to the individual needs of the vehicle user.
Advantages of the MERO 2 system
- Absolute reliability
- Certification and approval by the Ministry of Transport; homologated for more than 300 vehicle types - Look at the gallery of cars equipped by MERO 2 hand control
- Variable lever configuration, with the lever installable on the left or right side
- The system can be used as a standalone control for either the brake or the clutch
- For vehicles with a manual transmission, an electronic clutch can be added
- Eligibility for financial contributions or subsidies under current legislation
- The lever is equipped as standard with a brake lock (not required when the lever is installed on the left)
- Option of a large brake lock button for quadriplegic users
- The vehicle can still be operated in the standard way using pedals without the need to deactivate the system; the lever remains stationary when the pedals are used
The System Offers Numerous Customisation Options
The MERO 2 system is equipped with a lever that controls the brake and accelerator. Depending on individual requirements, the mechanical hand control for the brake and accelerator can be installed on the left or right side of the steering wheel and shaped to suit both the vehicle and the user. The lever can also be additionally equipped with an electronic ring-type accelerator. It may also be used independently as a brake control or as a mechanical clutch.
Method of brake and accelerator operation
The brake is always operated by moving the lever from the steering wheel towards the dashboard, as this movement is natural during braking. The accelerator is operated as standard by pulling the lever downwards from its neutral position. This downward hand pressure requires only minimal effort. When accelerating by pulling the lever downwards towards the steering wheel, the brake pedal can be operated independently. In vehicles with an automatic transmission, this solution allows for smooth hill starts.
The hand control lever also allows the accelerator to be held in position. The brake can be locked in the applied position using a push-button control. Operation is simple and presents no difficulty even for drivers with impaired fine motor skills in the fingers.
Choose your preferred accelerator control
If the driver requires the brake or accelerator to be operated separately, the brake lever can be complemented with any type of accelerator control, including a throttle lever, a twist-grip accelerator, an electronic ring accelerator integrated into the steering wheel, or its lever-operated variant.
